The announcement has been made: schools are to reopen on 8th March.
This is such welcome news for children’s education and wellbeing (as well as a huge positive for working parents!). Yet if you’re the facilities manager of a school or a project manager for work at an education facility, the announcement means it’s even more urgent to make sure the building is safe.
How can you make sure your building is secure?
Returning to school is a big step. Do children feel comfortable? Do parents feel the school is a safe environment? Do staff working there feel protected? Of course, COVID-19 security measures are a wide issue. But one way you can support the feeling of safety in school is making sure your education facility is secure. Whether you’re the owner, manager, or hired as a surveyor, there any a number of things to keep an eye out for. To start with:
• Does the paintwork look to be flaking and peeling, needing onsite spraying and cladding coating?
• Is there damage to the roof that might be allowing water leakages, requiring roof coating or gutter cleaning?
• Can you identify any signs of cut-edge corrosion needing repair and commercial painting?
This list is certainly non-exhaustive. Yet it gives you a great starting point for the kind of problems that need attending to, and quickly, which cause issues both inside and out. With a company like Cladding Coatings on-hand to carry out the work, you’ll be stopping further damage in its tracks – giving you chance for an external wall and roof refurbishment and repair project without the hassle and expense of cladding repair.
What else must you do to help people feel safe?
Schools may be reopening, but it doesn’t mean social distancing is no longer in place. When you’re preparing your education facility for reopening, careful management is needed with secure floor graphics and signage that will communicate clear messages to students in the building about safe distances and one-way routes. Yet its also vital these floor graphics are secure, making sure there’s no risk of trips and falls.
Thankfully, this service isn’t new to us at Cladding Coatings. Last summer, we supplied a number of schools with the social distancing floor signage both inside and out, with great management feedback (you can read more about this here):
“Thanks for the social distancing markings outside school. Prompt, efficient, speedy, and friendly service. Highly recommended.”
