Case Studies

Porcelanosa, Cardiff – Wall Cladding Coating

When we met with Porcelanosa we discussed their planned project which was to improve their existing high street brand, by updating external signage and replacing it with new fixtures and signs.

The challenge this presented was that new signage was a different size and shape to the old designs which meant that the newly exposed areas of the buildings looked very new when compared to other areas of the building (like removing a picture from a wall).

As part of the project Porcelanosa also required Cladding Coatings to repaint all cladding, this was to complete the facelift to each Showroom giving a welcoming and attractive finish for visitors and shoppers.

Cladding Coatings Technical team worked with Porcelanosa’s Facilities Team over a number of weeks to trial different options for filling the screw holes made by the old signage and then cleaning the cladding so that no evidence could be seen of the locations of the old signage. This took time and trial and error before we finally found a solution that worked for the customer and provided the perfect finish we were all looking for.

Aldi Supermarket, Hull – Cladding Coatings Onsite Spraying Service

We suggested to use onsite spraying for the wall cladding using our trusted coating system – this would then beautify the exterior, while also giving a smooth and protective finish which we guarantee for ten years.

The project involved a high-pressure washing of the surfaces to prepare them for painting. Cladding Coatings worked around other trades to ensure the supermarket would be open on time.

Our team sprayed the walls with a protective Noxyde coating, carefully taking into account the environment and members of the public at all times through the refurbishment.

The newly refurbished Aldi building now has a fresh coat of paint and a great new look; far more pleasing than before. The unit now has a beautified and protected exterior that they can be proud of. The refurbishment was completed on time and to the high standards of our client – who were highly satisfied with the finished result.

Screwfix, Sunderland Refurbishment – Wall Cladding Coating.

Cladding Coatings was contacted by the Screwfix Facilities Team following confirmation of their new location, resulting from their survey, Screwfix had found that whilst it was an ideal location for their business, the previous tenants had left the premises in a poor state of repair.

Following a full survey of the site, we discussed the areas that concerned the Screwfix Facilities Team, our project would involve installing Noxyde paint systems to the roof and the existing wall cladding, then an Alkathane to be applied to the trims, doors, drip sills, fascias.

Once we had the go ahead from Screwfix we created the necessary Risk Assessments and Method Statements for the project, working with a client like Screwfix means they expect a professional and thorough health and safety assessment before we start work. This is something Cladding Coatings is experienced in and completes for every project to ensure safe working practices for both our technicians, customer’s staff and the general public.

The majority of the project required focus on the roofing of the Screwfix building, we therefore erected and installed a scaffold handrail, access tower and roof light protection system to ensure our teams were able to complete their work safely whilst working at heights on the roof of the building.

The finished result means that Screwfix’s new premises is impressive in its surroundings, generating an excellent impression for visitors to the Industrial Estate and potential new customers visiting the competitor outlet nearby.

Retail Units, Roundhay Road, Leeds – Wall Cladding Coating

Cladding Coatings were commissioned by property developers to refurbish a site which would become the home of Wickes, home DIY retailer and Sports Direct, the leading sports retailer.

On visiting the site, our Surveyor found that the building’s exteriors had become tired and required a thorough clean before repainting to protect them for the future.

The project consisted of cleaning and protecting 3 elevations, 2 sides parallel with each other and a larger rear elevation where our workspace was much smaller. We immediately noticed that all 3 elevations have a double bullnose section which can be extremely tricky to pressure wash due to the curves in the cladding profile.

The front elevation of the building was being re-clad but rather than having to re-clad the entire external envelope, the developer saw the cost savings to be made by using Cladding Coatings to clean and recoat the cladding to the sides and rear of the retail units.

Whilst the buildings were both empty for the duration of our time on site, we were required as usual to work to health & safety guidelines for working at heights and also complete a risk assessment of the site to ensure both our team and any passing members of the general public were safe at all times.

Once completed the buildings looked as new, and were ready to welcome their new residents and of course the shoppers!

Wynsors World of Shoes – Shopfront Spraying

In the Autumn of 2014, Wynsors World of Shoes www.wynsors.com requested that Cladding Coatings were to attend their Liverpool store and refurbish the existing external cladding. The store had a plain white exterior that over time had attracted a buildup of dirt and grime.

A mixture of weather, traffic pollution and time resulted in a building that was starting to look worn and dull. Situated at the side of the busy A57, route into Liverpool it was important that Wynsors was able to stand out and that their building looked presentable and represented them well.

Cladding Coatings arrived on site and cleaned the building thoroughly. Preparation is a very important part of the process used by Cladding Coatings. After all the site was prepared the transformation could begin.

The exterior was sprayed in colours to match the branding of the company and the difference in the appearance of the building was staggering. A complete change from white to black and orange left this building standing out from the rest of the neighbouring properties and gave the store a fresh new look.
