When I walk onto a site, one of the first things I look at often overlooked by many is the guttering system. It’s not the most glamorous part of a building, and it’s rarely in plain sight. But trust me, it’s one of the most critical components in protecting your property from water damage. Over the years, I’ve seen firsthand how neglected gutters can lead to costly problems, from internal damp to structural corrosion. That’s why gutter repair, re-lining, and refurbishment are services I take seriously and recommend as part of any comprehensive building maintenance plan.
At Cladding Coatings, we specialise in restoring and protecting roofline systems, and gutter refurbishment is a key part of that. Whether I’m working on a commercial warehouse, an industrial unit, or even a football stadium, the principles remain the same: protect the building, extend its lifespan, and avoid unnecessary disruption.

Let’s start with the basics, gutter cleaning and coating. It’s easy to forget about your gutters until something goes wrong. Blockages from overgrown vegetation or debris can cause standing water, which in turn leads to cut-edge corrosion and leaks. That’s why I always recommend annual gutter cleaning. During these visits, we don’t just clear out the mess. We re-seal internal joints and apply a liquid fibre coating that forms a protective lining. This isn’t just a quick fix it’s a long-term waterproofing solution that can last up to 20 years before the first maintenance is even needed.
We use the Elastaseal™ HD gutter system from Tor Coatings, which is one of the most robust systems available. It’s UV stable, weather-resistant, and designed to reinforce joints and surfaces. The multi-layered application primer, embedment coat, reinforcement, and topcoat, ensures your gutters are protected from the elements and perform efficiently. I’ve seen this system transform deteriorating gutters into reliable, watertight channels that do their job without fuss.

But sometimes, cleaning and coating aren’t enough. When gutters are too damaged, cracked, corroded, or structurally compromised, we turn to re-lining. This is where innovation really comes into play. I’m proud to say we’re approved installers of Plygene Gutterline and WeatherFOLD systems. Plygene is a flexible, non-bonded liner that adapts to any gutter profile, creating a seamless, leak-proof barrier. It’s ideal for complex or older gutter systems where traditional coatings might not suffice.
WeatherFOLD, on the other hand, is a hard metal liner developed by WeatherFAST. It’s designed for high-traffic, corrosion-prone environments and offers up to 30 years of waterproofing. I’ve used this system on large-scale projects where durability and minimal maintenance are essential. Both systems allow us to avoid the disruption and cost of full gutter replacement, which can be a logistical nightmare for any business.
One of the things I love about gutter refurbishment is how transformative it can be. It’s not just about fixing leaks, it’s about future-proofing your building. By addressing issues early, we prevent internal damage, protect your cladding, and maintain the integrity of your roofline. Plus, every project we complete comes with a minimum 10-year guarantee, giving you peace of mind that the job’s been done right.

I’ve worked with clients who initially thought gutter refurbishment was a minor detail. But once they saw the impact, reduced maintenance costs, improved drainage, and enhanced building protection, they understood its value. It’s a simple truth: your gutter system is essential and looking after it isn’t optional.
So, whether you’re dealing with persistent leaks, corrosion, or just want to stay ahead of potential problems, I’m here to help. At Cladding Coatings, we tailor every gutter repair and refurbishment project to your building’s specific needs. We work around your schedule, minimise disruption, and deliver results that last.
