During the site visit, where we conducted a free on-site survey, the Cladding Coatings team created a detailed plan for the work that would be required. Metal roof coating was the main focus of the work for Greengate Mechanical, but the on-site survey also revealed that the rooflights and gutter system on the property would require refurbishing.

As the work for this project is on the roof, it was evident that we would need to install an access tower and safety handrail to ensure our team could work safely on site. Refurbishing the rooflights and gutter system

From the on-site survey, it was clear that the rooflights and part of the gutter system would need refurbishing in addition to the metal roof coating.

Rooflights require regular upkeep and maintenance like any other part of your building, and like the rest of the roof, they can be exposed to some pretty harsh weather. Failing to look after them can cause damage to your property, and you could end up with a costly bill to replace your rooflights.

The rooflights on this unit were dull and required some attention. After cleaning the existing rooflights with professional systems, we installed the Vernac system, which stops dirt and debris from sticking to the rooflights again. Once coated, the rooflights looked cleaner clearer and would now allow more natural light into the property. Coating the rooflights has also increased their durability.

Part of the gutter system also required repairing and refurbishing. We used Fillcoat Fibres to repair any cracks or holes to ensure the gutters would work more efficiently without leaks.

It is important to make sure that any issues with guttering are dealt with as soon as possible. A blocked or leaking gutter system can cause damage to your wall cladding and also your metal roof cladding as water isn’t able to effectively drain away from your property.
