A full refurbishment to the exterior walls and doors of two building was carried out at this manufacturing facility and headquarters based in Leicestershire.

A Growing Business

Family firm, Hammonds Furniture is nearing one hundred years old and are growing with ambitious goals. The company is a digital first retail and manufacturing business who are unique in controlling every aspect of the customer’s order from initial enquiry, sales process the manufacture and installation.

Understanding that their unit was showing signs of aging and deterioration, they needed to update the exterior and carry out repair work to ensure the headquarters for the brand were giving the right impression.

As a decades old family firm, they were keen to show that they were not an outdated thinking business but a modern and current operation. Refurbishing the exterior enabled the business to continue operations from their Hinckley base whilst updating the building and bringing it back to its former glory.

A High Quality Finish

After conducting a site visit, we provided the most appropriate options to refurbish the property and identified any areas that required repair work to be carried out. The customer was happy with our proposal, and we were then able to plan in the project over the summer months.

Weather plays a significant role for us when we are scheduling work and most of our onsite spraying work is carried out during the warmer months of the year. This year we have been particularly lucky with not having much rainfall to work around.

The site was large and there were two main buildings to focus on. Our teams prepared all surfaces ready for the refurbishment. This part is key, we know that good preparation makes the difference between a high-quality finish or a poor one.

Once all the walls were prepared our expert sprayers coated the external walls with a primer then, Rust-Oleum Metal Cladding Topcoat. The colour selected was RAL7016 for all the walls. Loading bay doors and the gutters were also re-sprayed to ensure a uniform finish across all elevations.

Replacements as Necessary

Some metal sheets, trims and facias were repaired, and some areas replaced. Replacement is normally necessary where there is damage or extreme corrosion.

Damage is common on industrial buildings where there is heavy traffic from trucks and lorries. There were damages on this building on some of the wall cladding sheets.

During the refurbishment work the business was fully operational so our teams worked around the operations ensuring important levels of safety and minimum disruption to the staff working there.
The completed refurbishment work looked amazing, and the modern Anthracite Grey colour really enhanced the facility to make it look stylish and modern, complementing the brand and the products it produces.
