In early 2017, Cladding Coatings began internal refurbishment work at Randstad Ltd in Northumberland. Randstad is a highly-experienced distributor of workshop consumables, parts and garage equipment to the automotive sector and professionals throughout the UK.

Randstad Ltd operates from a warehouse in Northumberland; however, due to the level of footfall and machinery used in the unit, the floors have now become extremely worn in specific areas. Not only is this becoming unsightly, but it could also have become a health and safety risk for their employees and customers.

Cladding Coatings were contacted by Martin, a member of the family-run business that directs Randstad. After his enquiry, a site survey was carried out; the Cladding Coatings team came to inspect the property and, using their expert knowledge, could give advice and offer solutions to the failing floor issue. They provided free on-site samples of the system to show the client the different colour range, and the finished result of the coating. Martin was happy with the suggestions and the samples and soon booked in for the work to be carried out.

The team came to site and carried out all risk and health and safety assessments on behalf of Martin and Randstad. They then began preparing the floor ready for coating. The floor was buffed using 110v floor polish to create a smooth surface for the paint to adhere to. All dust and excess were then swept away, and the floor was mopped, removing all dirt and residue ready for the first coat to be applied. The system used was a Rawlins paint system Ral 7012 WG Epoxy in a blue shade, a highly protective coating. Two thick layers of the system were applied to the whole area of the warehouse flooring, even in places where the current paint had not been damaged to keep the floor consistent in appearance, and protected.

There was a slight delay on the first day on site due to a maintenance issue with the floor polisher. The team picked up the polisher from the supplier, but once they arrived on site ready to begin work they found that the machine was not working. They reported the problem back to the supplier, and they supplied a replacement polisher, however, the team had to wait 24 hours to receive the machine. This was a setback in the plan and timings.

Despite this issue, Cladding Coatings were able to complete the job on time, and in excellent finished condition, which was agreed by the satisfied customer. Even though the finish looked great, and the customer was happy. The client feedback stated how great the Cladding Coatings team were, and that he was very impressed with both Mick and Jake who were onsite. The floor is now freshly coated and protected – backed with a 10-year guarantee.
