Rawlinson Automotive, Bury St Edmunds
The ageing roof on this popular car showroom was fully refurbished, and preparation was conducted ready to accept solar panels.
Creating a Good Customer Image
Rawlinson Automotive based in Bury St Edmunds offer a wide choice of quality new and used cars and it is the place to go in the area for everything Renault, Dacia, and Mitsubishi.
For a company offering their customers the best new and used car prices, excellent service, and quality advice and aftersales, their premises needs to look the part too. Attracting customers and instilling their trust to make a purchase is influenced not only by the wonderful people they meet there, but the environment both inside and outside.
On inspection it was clear that the roof area of this showroom needed refurbishment due to flaking and peeling paint, deterioration and in some area’s signs of leakage. The company was aware that this did not look appealing from the outside and was not good long term for the integrity of the roof.
Experienced and Careful Work
Cladding Coatings were called in to help due to our extensive experience and expertise, particularly working on many car showroom facilities. Our careful workmanship and consideration to the environment we work in sets us apart, to deliver on quality and customer experience.
Our teams got to work to erect safety and access equipment which in this case, included an access tower and full perimeter edge protection. We pride ourselves on our care and attention to detail but also in the safety on site as working at height poses many risks.
Preparation is Key
There were already solar panels installed on the roof so one of the first jobs included the safe and careful removal of these. Once the roof area was clear our team set about preparing the surface, ready for coating. Using specialist equipment, the roof was cleaned thoroughly, and any repair work conducted. There was some joint sealing to be carried out in areas where there had been leaks.
Good and thorough preparation is vital to achieve the excellent finish we strive for; we take our time to ensure that the surface is perfect for the new surface coating. This makes an enormous difference between a good finish and a poor coating application.
Longlasting Quality Finish
The 600m2 roof was then primed and a topcoat applied using a dry fall paint system to avoid any overspray or any paint damage to the cars below. We used a 15-year Rustoleum Noxyde system in Goosewing Grey.
Once the roof coating was complete the team carried out a through clean of the gutter system to ensure the entire roof area was left clean and ready to accept the solar panels.
Solar Panel Installation
The solar panels were then re-installed professionally, and access equipment removed from site.
Our team left the roof looking like new and with the addition of the solar panels, it was ready to work hard for the business to help reduce its energy costs. Not only does the roof of this car showroom save money on energy costs but it has also saved money being repaired and refurbished before the damage and deterioration became so severe that it required expensive replacement work to be carried out.
With our long guarantees, in this case, 15 years, it provides peace of mind that the roof has long lasting protection and will be trouble free for years to come.
