Tipografic, Birkenhead

A roofsafe inspection and certification was carried out to several buildings for this client.

Our trained and trusted team returned to a client’s site to inspect and recertify the RoofSafe fall arrest system we installed, for optimal safety and client peace of mind.

Installing a RoofSafe fall arrest system on your property is a permanent thing. It’s designed to save money, increase access opportunities to your roof, and reduce further necessary investments in on-site roof safety.

Yet at Cladding Coatings, a permanent installation doesn’t mean our commitment to you ends when we leave your site. As fully accredited RoofSafe contractors, we return yearly to the sites where we’ve installed the RoofSafe fall arrest systems to carry out a thorough inspection and re-certification of the system. That’s what we did for our client, Tipografic: a packaging company based in Birkenhead.

Secure roof access across multiple buildings

Tipografic is a large firm, and thus needed RoofSafe fall arrest systems installing across a number of their buildings. This required us to install horizontal lines and fixed anchor points at varied lengths and specifications. Our team’s knowledge and installation experience meant we were able to accurately install the 3M™ DBI-SALA® RoofSafe Anchor and Cable System at lengths ranging from 7 metres to 130 metres across four buildings. One building even required two systems.

As well as the horizontal line systems, our team also checked the two full body harnesses we’d supplied, and the two 10 metre rope lines (with adjustable rocker rope grabs and karabiners). This ensured we’d thoroughly inspected every element that makes up the RoofSafe system, each equally vital for safety and full re-certification.

Inspection to guarantee ongoing safety

Making sure these systems were all still performing at the perfect standard we’d installed was crucial. Working at height naturally carries a significant amount of risk, and sometimes elements out of our control (such as climate conditions) affect roof safety. This is a key reason why re-certification is vital.

As part of the inspection, we looked at:

• Had any element of the roof become fragile, and showed signs of wear not present at the point of installation? This is particularly important for clients who don’t use our repair and refurbishment service and select RoofSafe installation only.

• Has the weather had a negative impact on the roof? For example, harsh climates can cause build up of debris. This is key for buildings like Tipografic’s, which are in a harsh, coastal location and thus more vulnerable to the elements.

• Are there any other areas of your roof, or external property façade, which are showing signs of wear? Our onsite surveyors can check the condition of your building and offer no-commitment quotes for any problems we identify – minimising the risk and impact of longer-term damage and expense by tackling any issues as soon as they’re apparent.
