Drone Surveys: For those hard-to-see areas of roof cladding

Over time metal wall and roof cladding can start to deteriorate, but from ground level, the damage isn’t always easy to see.

When assessing the exterior condition of your commercial or industrial property, you can see some of the issues clearly without having to gain higher access. However, for those areas such as your roof cladding and gutter system that you can’t see from the ground, a drone survey can provide you with the sight you need to assess their condition.

What are drone surveys?

During the First World War, the first pilotless vehicles were developed in the USA and Britain. Over the years ‘drones’ and remotely piloted vehicles have continued to develop and have been used by the military for various military operations and purposes.

In more recent years, drones have been used by various sectors and industries and have been developed to have many functions and purposes, including filming, photography, delivering goods monitoring climate change and much more.

Different types of drones are now commercially available for anyone to purchase however some drones require you to have a drone license to fly them. A number of factors may require you to have a drone license depending on the type of drone you are using and what the drone is being used for. There are specific rules and regulations that must be followed in the UK by anyone flying a drone.

Our MD Mike Hallwood has passed his PFCO written and flight exam for drones, which means he can safely fly a drone and conduct drone surveys of your property.

A drone survey is where we fly a drone over your property to record footage of those areas that are hard to see from ground level. Once the footage has been gathered, we can assess the condition of your roof cladding and gutter system and provide you with a fast and accurate quotation.

What are the benefits of a drone survey?

Drones have been used for many years to gather information discreetly. With the advancements in drone technology, this is now much easier.

Our drone surveys cause minimal disruption to you and your team working on-site, minimising the impact on your daily business operations. This is because there is no need for roof access equipment to be installed on your property in order for us to gain access to the roof. The survey can all be conducted from ground level. In turn, this speeds up the process and means we aren’t on-site for a long period of time.

A drone survey is also beneficial because the footage is recorded, meaning it can be revisited and watched multiple times to give you the most accurate assessment of your roof cladding’s condition.

Having the footage recorded also means that we can return to the footage throughout a refurbishment to ensure we deliver the project as promised to optimal standards. The footage also gives the perfect opportunity for comparison to see what the project was like before and after refurbishment.
