New Home for Sports Direct

Cladding Coatings have recently completed a retail project where the new tenants will include outlets for leading sports retailer Sports Direct and home DIY retailer, Wickes. We were responsible for the general clean up and refurbishment of the site on Roundhay Road, Leeds, ahead of the new tenants moving in to this prestigious West Yorkshire location.

Cladding Coatings’ role was to clean, prepare and protect all external elevations which are clad finished. The team faced an extra challenge of all 3 elevations having a double bull nose section which can be extremely awkward to pressure wash due to the curves in the cladding profile. The team followed a detailed risk assessment and health & safety profile to ensure the safety of themselves and the general public, scissor lifts and harnesses were used throughout the week long project.

Once the roof was cleaned, a primer was applied to prepare the surfaces. The Cladding Coatings team was then able to spray each elevation with a coating of the Rust-Oleum Noxyde paint system. Rust-Oleum Noxyde is a water-based, single-component paint, it is easy to apply and yet gives the same protection as a complicated and more expensive polyurethane system. The paint forms a thick anticorrosive membrane that offers excellent protection against water, salt spray and aggressive environments. Noxyde®paint systems also offer a metal coating which is certified for 15 years lifespan in C5M environments, which is the toughest of environments recognised by ISO12944.

Using industry leading products is one of the reasons Cladding Coatings finds itself being awarded repeat projects for many leading businesses where quality and a professional finish is key. We appreciate and understand the high standards leading retailers expect from their premises having previously worked on the refurbishment of another Sports Direct location in Darlington. This project involved shopfront spraying to give the feel of a brand new facia and vertical wall cladding on front and side elevations. A challenging project for everyone involved with a short three week turnaround for the job.
