A historic site in safe hands

The new office and warehouse site was a former Buxton spring just inside the Peak District, not far from our head office base in Oldham, Greater Manchester. Our Cladding Coatings team were on-site to deliver a commercial painting project in July 2020 at the former spa town, steeped in history and notable architecture. Therefore, our client needed confidence in a careful approach with a safe pair of hands who could tackle a challenging project within budget and timeframe. Project managing an office and warehouse on a former Buxton spring is a tough task for any facilities manager or building owner. But with a site survey taking place before we began work, we could outline what was needed and set expectations the client was happy with from the start.

We were also able to provide a digital mock up of the colour scheme in advance of works starting to ensure that that right colour choice was made.

Careful preparation and expert application

Cladding cleaning is where our commercial painting projects begin, and this was no exception. Our first task was to jet wash external brickwork to the three elevations beneath the cladding, as well as making sure all dirt, debris and residue was removed from the façade so the surface was smooth and ready for paint application.

Rust-Oleum Noxyde® is the paint system we chose to install to the required elevations of the offices. This 15-year system is high-performance, with impressive water-resistance, anti-corrosion and rust-proofing properties that make it exceptionally durable, no matter the original use of the site. The paint system was installed to three elevations of the main warehouse and to the metal cladding of the offices, ending smoothly in-line with the gable elevation and the neighbour’s offices.

Our onsite spraying application also saw us install the Rust-Oleum Noxyde® system to the far-end gable elevation, working from the neighbouring roof. Our roof coating experience was hugely beneficial here, as we could deliver a safe and smooth finish despite working at height in an awkward location.
