Montford Enterprise Centre, Salford

Industrial units in need of re-coating were re-sprayed on site by our team to enable the landlord, our long standing customer, to let them out quickly.

Over the past decade in business, we have worked alongside property landlords Whittle Jones on numerous projects across the north of England, one of our most recent projects with them was at the Montford Enterprise Centre in Salford.

Whittle Jones acquired several units at the Salford based industrial park back in 2016, however after owning the units for a few years, it became apparent that external deterioration was becoming far more prominent and needed immediate attention. The two units in particular that had become victims of weathering and paint declining were units 11 & 14 of the enterprise centre. Whittle Jones requested Cladding Coatings to come along to the site and examine the units to recommend further refurbishment action.

The team arrived on-site and assessed all areas of each unit, testing the quality of the cladding as well as looking at the overall appearance of the façade. Upon examination it was clear that the condition of the metal cladding was still good, meaning replacement or corrosion repair was not required. Instead we suggested a re-coating to the external walls to renovate the faded and patchy grey paint coating, and renovate areas where moss had begun to grow on the walls. Whittle Jones as always accepted our expert recommendations and work soon began on the re-painting of the two units.

Four members of the Cladding Coatings team worked on this project, the first step was to prepare the surface for the new coating to be applied. This pre-coating preparation involves a high-powered cladding cleaning service, which removes any dirt, paint chippings or excess on the walls, producing a clean and bare surface for the paint to be applied onto. Once the cleaning was complete we could then apply the first coat of paint using our on-site spraying service. The beauty of applying the paint with a spray system rather than the traditional paint brush or rollers is the seamless application and excellent time saving benefits. The spray system produces a very smooth, even coating which is highly flexible and has excellent weather and UV protection.

The client, Whittle Jones, selected their paint colour from an array of different shades. This was an attractive black colour system which will coincide with any branding, which will help with the leasing out these properties. Two coats were applied to the exterior of these units, with the job being completed in just one week. The system used was the ever popular Noxyde system by Rust-Oleum, chosen due to its unrivalled results. With this coating system we can guarantee the client 10-years of excellence and protection, which leaves the client worry free and the building looking outstanding for a decade.

We also recoated the gutters and roller shutter doors with the same system, but this time in a smart grey colour, which matched well against dark walls.

It is always a pleasure working alongside Whittle Jones and we are pleased that yet again our services and results have impressed them. The finished result on both buildings looks phenomenal, leaving two beautified and well protected buildings, ready to fight against weathering and ageing, whilst looking as good as new!
