Wooden Cladding Deterioration at Aquinas College, Stockport
Today we have been visiting a site in Stockport, where the wooden cladding to a external face of a college building had seen deterioration occurred quicker than intended.
The system appears to have failed around nail heads and joints. However the main issue here is that water is pooling on the drip sill detail, which is then being absorbed up the full elevation.
Proposed action includes cutting the timber away from the sill to prevent contact with any pooling and treating the full elevation with an opaque system to achieve a uniform consistent finish throughout.
