Cladding Coatings

There seems to be one huge sporting event after another this summer and next up is the Olympics Paris 2024. Our team will be supporting Great Britain in all their events and this reminds us just how much area of the nation we cover with our services. The Cladding Coatings head office is in Greater Manchester but we cover the whole of Great Britain and Ireland. Location is no issue and we still offer free on site quotations whether you are in Aberdeen or Plymouth. Whether it’s a roof repair in Scotland or a factory floor paint in Wales, our experienced team are flexible to attend your premises at your convenience and for as long as the project takes.

Let’s have a look at two case studies we have carried out located 650miles apart!

Parcelforce aberdeen sheet corrosion

In Aberdeen the Facilities Manager for Parcelforce contacted Cladding Coatings after having a frustrating experience with several other Contractors. This was due to the other Contractors quoting and supplying paint systems which had failed and the building remained unprotected and in a poor state of repair.

On meeting with the Facilities Manager, Cladding Coatings reviewed the building and all areas of damage. We noted that this was an unusual project as the cut edge corrosion was found to be present on the sheet ends of the walls instead of the roof sheets which is more commonly found. This unusual appearance is something we are very familiar with, and is due to the coastal location of the building, where the weather can cause considerable increased wear and tear to a building.

In order to recommend an appropriate paint system it is important that the Cladding Coatings team are trained and have up to date industry knowledge. Which is why we have invested in training to ISO12944 which certifies on the assessment of the environment for paints and wall coverings.

As part of the initial meeting and survey, we explained this to the customer, something they hadn’t understood previously, we then discussed the scope of the project so that we could prepare a quotation. Cladding Coatings would also be responsible for removing the failing maintenance system which had been installed by another Contractor. Parcelforce understood that this would increase their costs in terms of labour time, but appreciated that they needed the work completed in order to futureproof the building and save costs in the long term.

Parcelforce approved our quotation, we then installed the Tor paint system. The system is compliant to ISO12944 C5M environments and includes an extremely thorough preparation process which would ensure that the failing system was removed and any damage repaired before the new application.

If you are based in a coastal location or where your building faces extreme weather conditions, please consider contacting Cladding Coatings to quote for a system that will protect your building now and in the future.

DX Bodmin External Wall Cladding Before Cladding Coatings Refurbishment

650 miles away down in Bodmin, Cornwall Cladding Coatings completed extensive refurbishment works at this logistics facility. External wall cladding coating, roof coating and gutter refurbishment were some of the works completed.

Logistics company DX got in touch with Cladding Coatings to see how we could help them revitalise and rebrand a unit they had recently acquired.

DX provides services throughout the UK and Ireland and is a well-established logistics company that continues to grow.

On-site survey for planned refurbishment work

From the initial conversation with DX, it was proposed that the roof would likely need recoating, and the gutters would need refurbishing. Upon visiting the site in Bodmin to conduct our free on-site survey, we established more work would be required on the unit to get it to a standard that our client would be proud of.

From the on-site survey, we discovered that not only was the roof showing some signs of deterioration, but the external metal wall cladding also required recoating. The roof and exterior wall cladding looked tired, worn and dirty. There was clear evidence of cut-edge corrosion on the metal cladding that would require refurbishment. The building’s roof lights were also looking a little worse for wear, and the guttering showed signs of corrosion which would need repairing and refurbishing.

Safe access for roof refurbishment

Health and safety are of great importance to us here at Cladding Coatings, and we do everything to ensure good practice is followed on-site to protect our team and also the staff and visitors to your site.

As this project required working at height to complete the roof cladding refurbishment and to work on the rooflights, we knew we would have to install access to allow us to work safely at height.

We installed the permanent Mansafe Fall Arrest system to refurbish the roof to ensure our team could work safely. This system also meant that there was no scaffolding obstructing the loading bays.

Refurbishing and replacing parts of the rooflights also meant access was required inside the building to install safety netting whilst work was carried out on the rooflights. This entailed using a Cherry Picker to assemble the netting at the project’s start and disassemble it once the work was complete.

Trusted systems for external wall cladding and roof coating

With the metal roof cladding and external wall cladding, there were areas of cut edge corrosion that needed addressing. We elected to use a trusted paint system from Rust-Oleum to complete this recoating project. Noxyde® is a hardwearing and durable coating system with excellent corrosion protection that effectively coats areas of deterioration and helps stop cut edge corrosion in its tracks. Noxyde® is also available in various colours and shades, allowing you to have the best colours to suit your branding and business.

The external wall cladding and roof cladding were thoroughly cleaned and prepped, ready for recoating to ensure a smooth and consistent spray application.

The gutters and trims were recoated in a vibrant blue to compliment DX’s branding. Their new depot looks smart and professional, along with the newly recoated roof and external wall cladding.
