Regalead, Sharston

Repairs were required on an industrial unit, where damaged and faded elevations required a full external refurbishment.

Cladding Coatings have completed the external repair and refurbishment at Regalead, Sharston. The project was originally discussed back in 2016, where the client raised concerns about their external cladding. The façade required a combination of cladding repairs and replacement, alongside re-coating services to renovate the declining exterior.

Regalead is the largest supplier of decorative components to the glass and door industry in Europe – and it was their Manchester warehouse was needing refurbishment by Cladding Coatings.

The unit is situated on a busy Manchester road and is highly visible to the general public – which means the appearance of the building is a great concern to the company. Having an attractive looking building is appealing to customers, so in turn, if your exterior is damaged, worn or looks unsightly, it doesn’t give a great first impression.

The tenant called in Cladding Coatings to beautify the unit, thus improving the appearance, whilst also protecting the building from forms of weathering, ageing and other corrosion damage.

Our expert team arrived on site to commence their in-depth site survey. A proposal of improvements was drawn up and delivered to the client – which was promptly approved. Before the project started we agreed on risk assessments and method statements with the Contract Manager at Regalead. Now our team could begin the refurbishment.

We removed and replaced the panels that had the severe damage – these panels had been affected by traffic and machinery damage and were unfortunately damaged beyond reasonable repair. Particular areas of damage included the loading doors which had been impaired during deliveries and other normal working functions. Repair work was carried out to other areas of the unit where the panels had suffered from corrosion and additional damage.

Once all the external repair and replacements were complete, work could then begin on refinishing the faded elevations. 2 panels had been subject to a great amount of UV degradation from harsh weathering. We cleaned down the panels, preparing them for re-coating.

The panels were re-coated using a highly protective system, Noxyde from Rust-Oleum, completed with their topcoat paint, to further protect the cladding.

Noxyde systems come in an endless range of colours, able to suit an extensive range of branding requirements. Our client chose Vandyke Brown, to compliment and match his current external branding. The repairs and re-coating completely renewed the appearance of the building whilst maintaining its water tightness, and providing the unit with 10-years’ worth of guaranteed protection.

The finished result was a superb finished building, the tenants can be proud of.
