This time our skills were drawn upon to refurbish the roof, gutters, trims and walls on retail units at this retail park in Barnsley for our customer, a property solutions company.

Firstly, the Cladding Coatings team completed a free on-site survey for our client to establish what refurbishment work would be required. It was evident that the roof cladding was showing signs of wear and deterioration and would therefore require roof cladding coating. The on-site survey also showed that the gutters weren’t performing as well as possible and would require a new gutter lining system installing to help divert water efficiently away from the roof.

In addition to the work on the roof cladding and the gutter system, the external façade needed refreshing to make the retail units look appealing and inviting to potential customers.

Roof cladding coating for a safe and secure building

From the on-site survey, the Cladding Coatings team assessed the roof cladding’s condition and elected to use an industry-leading system from Giromax®️. The Giromax®️ Roofcoat system is a tough and durable coating system designed to achieve total protection from extreme conditions giving optimal corrosion resistance and excellent weatherproofing capabilities.

Cladding Coatings have previously installed the Giromax®️ system to a large roof at the Former Poundstretcher site in Leicester.

The roof cladding was recoated to a high-quality standard for this project, giving a professional and well-protected finish.

Gutter lining using an innovative system

In addition to roof cladding refurbishment, it was evident from the on-site survey that the gutter system on the retail unit would also require some attention.

Guttering is often an area of a property that gets overlooked; however, it plays a big part in diverting water away from your property, particularly the roof. Standing water in gutter systems and on roof cladding can lead to corrosion which, if left untreated, can lead to more costly measures such as cladding replacement. If you notice your gutter system is blocked or showing signs of corrosion, you need to act fast and get the issue resolved.

For this project, we elected to use the WeatherFOLD system by WeatherFAST, which has a 25-year guarantee. We are approved installers of this gutter lining system which is a durable metal liner that is designed to withstand heavy traffic and corrosion.

The gutters were cleaned of debris, and the WeatherFOLD system was installed to provide an efficient gutter system that could safely divert water away from the roof.

This system has previously been installed at West Bromwich Albion Football Stadium and, more recently, at Synertec in Warrington.

Minimal disruption to daily operations

The refurbished retail units are situated in a busy retail area with lots of cars and shoppers, so our work on-site needed to be carried out safely and efficiently.

On-site spraying of the external walls using expert coating systems completed the refurbishment project at this retail park. The overall finish was smart and professional, and our client was happy with the result of the external refurbishment.

While on site the team also carried out a small amount of internal decoration to some areas on the upper floor.
